A Strategic Gateway for Trade, Tariff, and Cross-Border Policy Engagement
The Import/Export Forum has established beened as a specialised platform for companies within the Coatings Sector that are actively engaged in international trade, including import and export of raw materials, finished products, and equipment.
This Forum ensures that trade-related information, proposals, and policy documents are effectively channelled to and from national platforms such as Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and NEDLAC (National Economic Development and Labour Council), where key decisions are affecting the sector's global competitiveness are made.
Mandate and Objectives
The Import/Export Forum is mandated to:
- Disseminate critical trade information to member companies
- Facilitate structured feedback and mandates on government proposals affecting tariffs, duties, logistics, and compliance
- Serve as a consultation and mobilisation hub for lobbying efforts on trade policy and related issues
The Forum plays a pivotal role in representing the Coatings Sector on complex matters such as:
- Customs and Excise regulations administered by the South African Revenue Service (SARS)
- International trade protocols and compliance frameworks
- Export incentives and rebates
- Non-Tariff Barriers and cross-border documentation
- Product certification and standards impacting import/export flows
