As a Senior Executive Leader within your organisation, SAPMA would like to implement a system capable of defining, recognising and certifying Professionalism amongst employees and managers.
Once these employees have been certified as professionals within your organisation SAPMA will continuously develop and refine such Professionalism ensuring that it is current and reflective of best Global Practices!
This Framework, referred to as a Designation Taxonomy, indicates Designation Categories and Labels which Practitioners can apply for and be awarded, for a set period (3-years on-average) renewable thereafter.
- Manage Departments or Companies
- Work in either a Technical or Operational Capacity in companies in the Import, Supply and Raw materials Distribution Industry
- Leads Organisations within the Profession
- Deals in Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Are Professionally Qualified in Designated Fields of Practice
- Operate as an Independent Practitioners & Consultants
Designations are organized according to three levels:
- Technical
- Operational.
- Professional Practitioner
- A Qualification is offered by either a DOE Public Provider or a DOE-Accredited Training Provider.
- Once earned it cannot be withdrawn.
- A Qualification, even if outcomes based is formulated within the framework of Academia and is minimally responsive or engaging with the world at work.
- On the other hand, a Professional Designation is completely owned and regulated by Social Partners i.e. Organised Labour and Organised Business.
- A Designation can be withdrawn and is awarded not only for evidenced Competency but additionally for Professional and Accountable behaviour.
- A Professional Designation has formative accredited qualifications mapped to it as pre-qualifying requirements.
- Recognition of Prior Learning is the essential tool for transformation and redress within the context of the New South Africa.
- There are a multitude of Practitioners in every Industry and Sector who have never had the benefit of attaining a Qualification but if assessed have sufficient relevant experience and practice, to prove competency, either for the purpose of access to a designation, or if offered by a Provider for credit or the awarding of a Whole Qualification.
- A Professional Body has the flexibility and license to apply RPL in creative and transformative ways while not sacrificing quality along the way.
CPD is used for one of two reasons by a Professional Body.
- It is either used horizontally, designed to facilitate the re-designation every three years by a Professional Practitioner i.e. for the purposes of Designation Retention
- Or it can be used vertically to facilitate the progression of a Practitioner between Designation Taxonomy Levels i.e. from the Technical to the Operational, or from the Operational to the Professional levels.
